Groupware is the type of software designed for group communication. The term is used to refer to a specific class of technologies based on computer networks. Such products should consider how people behave in groups and how aspects of networking technology affect a user's experience.

Types |

Main groupware types are the following: "synchronous" groupware that allows simultaneous (realtime) work and "asynchronous" a collaborative solution that allows work at different times. Other types are "collocated" (face-to-face) when users work together in one place or "non-collocated" (distance) when users work in different places. |

It is client/server system that allows authorized users to simultaneously access and share common database through Local Network (LAN).
