How do you start your day? Do you start your day from doing some unimportant and time-consuming tasks that take almost the half of your day? If it is so, then, you waste your time on some useless tasks instead of accomplishing some important ones, and as a result, you will fail to do them and won't reach the success in your life. Let's look through several techniques that can help you to start your day productively and save your time:

  • Start from thinking about the goals you want to reach within the next few years and then think about the steps you need to take to reach them. Write down or type these steps and divide them into yearly, monthly and weekly goals, then you will be absolutely sure what you need to do and when.
  • Plan your daily goals in advance (for ex.: on Sunday or on Monday morning) and list the steps you need to take to achieve your weekly goal(s).
  • Plan exact period of time you need to spend on routine tasks (such as: e-mails, phone calls and messages, faxes and so on). Probably 30-40 minutes will be enough to look through this information to decide which of it is important for you today and which can be delayed.
  • Don't plan to accomplish too many tasks during a day, be realistic. Write down the most important and urgent tasks of the day and set estimated time for each of them, so at the end of the day you can analyze the actual time that was spent on each of your tasks and get useful experience for future planning.

Using these techniques, you will see how much time you have during a day and will be able to start each new day productively.
