The definition : a project phase is a logical part of projects that covers a series of activities to plan, develop, control, test, or implement the final product. There are usually five project phases in project management , including Initiating, Planning, Executing, Controlling and Closing. The five phases are parts of project life cycle and they create a framework for successful project management. The given phases definition lets better understand how to plan phases and manage planning processes.

The first thing to do to plan your new project is to create a suite of templates that can be used throughout the project. Project templates help systemize your project, make it more organized and apply a single foundation to management of planning processes.
